new blackberry user have a question

i just bought a new blackberry 8700 online and it is unlocked so i dont know i will get a 8700g or 8700c but my question is i am with tmobile and if i get 8700 c which is ATT phone then i will like to delete the current operating system and re install a new one which will make the blackberry unbranded and i can use is with tmobile without any issues

is it possible ?will i have to go through too much of hassle to set up the phone with tmobile service ?

let me know please

thanks

cooldude, if your BB coming to you is unlocked, that only means you can use it on another GSM network (such as ATT or TMo). It will still have its retailers branding on the face of the phone and the flash startup screen. You can't change that, and neither will an OS update.

However, you can update the OS, look at the sticky note at the top of the 8700 section for the latest and instructions.

hey, new york. welcome to the forums!

basically, yes, you can install any OS that's made for the 8700x devices. the branding, however, has more to do with the theme than the OS. there's oodles of information around the forum on these topics. look for sticky threads at the top of the thread lists.

it shouldn't be much hassle at all to launch with t-mo. you would be best, however, with a data plan. otherwise just pop your sim in and go.

curiously, why did you choose BB?

To clarify this, you can instal any OS for the 8700x. 8703e, 8705, and 8707 software will not weork on an 8700

Wow! An interesting experiment.

So, you've been using BB Connect. Do you know if you use PIN messaging since you're on BB Connect on a non-RIM device?
