I just came from the treo family. I send between 3-4k+ texts a month and I still have to give credit for the treo on the text messages it handles them so much better.

But the 8830 on sprint at least has threaded messages but it works diffrent, you open your sms inbox and it will show for example

Ed
ed
mark
ed

But if you click on say Ed it will bring up all the texts you have had with Ed for that day.

Really the only thing I hate about the 8830 is how they handle that but other than that I wouldnt go back to a treo since my texts would freeze when sending sometimes requiring a reset, so far the 8830 has been flawless on sending and receiving texts.

But overall I would say the texts are handled sort of the same way emails are on the BB. I wish we could do a 3rd party applications or possibly a simple firmware update on BB side to just improve the texts a little it would only require a few basic changes and it could be on par if not better than the treo.

I came from the Treo 700wx and like the texting on the 8830 much better. Best of all, it does not lock up.

I agree, no lock ups.

The second biggest annoyance for me (the first being that it still lists the texts as separate in the "inbox" view), is when you click on the most recent text it brings up the thread, but does not include the last message you sent. This makes it difficult (for me at least) to quickly pull up a thread to see if I've responded or if so what I said. I realize you can easy hit alt-o to see these though.

Seriously, this is what Blackberry is all about. Connectivity. Reliability. Clarity. Convenience. Customization.

On and on and on.....

I have never regretted switching to BB and the 8830. Love it.
