When you get a voice mail system that prompts you to spell a party's name to get to his or her voice mail, if you press the letters to do so, no DTMF tones. But unless you've memorized the alphabet that goes with each number key on a non-smartphone, how do you dial letters on such a system and get the DTMF tones to use it?
Hold ALT while you dial the correct letters and it will translate it to the traditional number layout for you
