Default Alarm doesn't work

Please Login to Remove!

I made sure all the tones in the default profile are turned on. I set the alarm for a certain time, make sure daily alarm is ON.. and nothing happens when the time hits. 7100g. Any ideas? I did a search and didn't find anything useful..

It's set to Tone, Escalating, 3 times. I'll try changing Escalating to "High"

Nope, still nothing. Should I maybe download the latest OS & flash the firmware? I'm running 4.0.0.219.

if your bb is connected to your Desktop Manager. go under app loader. there should be a box that is checked with alarm. uncheck it then click next and finish, so on. then go into app loader again and recheck and complete the load. that might work. I am not sure though. I dont have my laptop, its getting repaired so for now, no DM for me.

The alarm isn't something you can deselect, unfortunately.
I think I need to take this back and get a new unit.. I think this one is defective.

*big forehead slap*

Arrgh! I figured it out. Get this.. the alarm will not fire off if you are currently using the device (i.e. the backlight is on). I can see where RIM was coming from on this, but I think it was a bad move. What if I still want an alarm to go off, while I'm surfing or checking e-mails? It should be an option.

I guess they figured that people would use the alarm like an alarm clock - I use the Calendar to alert me of things to do, and it will pop up in the middle of you doing something else. If you are already "up" (using the BB), then the alarm isn't that important. I figured when it wasn't working, it wasn't working as a true "alarm clock".
