Question Lost Voice Mail Speed Dial

Please Login to Remove!

After I performed the recent Verizon upgrade on my 8830, I found that my voice mail speed dial - set to w or 1 - has disappeared. I can't figure out how to reassign the number. I've tried accessing the number on the call log and setting it up from there, but the number shows up as "*86" rather than "Voice Mail". If I choose "*86" off of the call log, it doesn't access the number as a voice mail number and won't dial the passcode.

Any thoughts?

Will this delete and reset all of my phone settings to default? I'd rather not have to set everything back up manually. Should I do a backup first?

Okay...I'm roaming on US Cellular's network. When I dial *22899 the message says US Cellular. Any way I can do this while roaming?

I was really excited to read there was a fix for this problem. I have also had the same problem... no VM speed dial since the upgrade.

Well... I did the *22899 send and waited for successful programming to complete. Hit OK... I did a reboot... and alas... NO GO! Still no speed dial VM... still says Invalid phone number.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance folks!

Just goto your phone app, then goto speed dial, then add entry to the 'w' key, add your phone's phone number then add a pause at the end of your number by selecting the comma key , one or two pauses should work then add your voice mail password. It should look something like this.

Thanks for the tip... but I had actually tried that previously. It doesn't seem to allow any addition or change to the "w" key. It seems somehow tied to the voicemail option in the phone.

Any other suggestions, folks?

***UPDATE***

I called Verizon Customer Service and got a nice guy named Marshall who suggested I do a backup... wipe and restore. Reprogrammed with *228... resent the service books... That fixed the problem.

Probably way more than I had to do... but the problem is fixed.

Hey guys I am with Sprint 8703e I am having the same problem with the "w" key for voice mail. I did an os update yesterday 4.1.5xx the "w" key worked fine yesterday after the update. This morning got a voice mail and no go! I have tried removing the batt that did not fix it. The message I am getting is "Invalid phone number." Do you think resending the service pack will help or is there a *xxx number for sprint for provisioning?

Thank you!!!

Ok just looking I did not do an upgrade to the os that I thought I was doing. I thought I was going from 4.1.0.384 to 4.1.0.5xx. It still says that I am 4.1.0.384. Tried new service packs and nothing. I know this is a 8800 forum, I did not see a thread in the 8700 forum.
