my buddy from verizon sends me texts and he has a sig. is this possible with my 8800 tmo?

If not you can always set it up in Auto-Text. Define it as something like
xx = Ginfocker, Super BB User. then you just type xx and it pops up.

i think i have "sig." as my sig, but i dont even want to do that...lol. i want to be even lazier then that....lol

The problem with sigs on SMS is that they take up part of the 200 character maximum for a text message. If the signature takes an SMS over 200 characters, it splits into two messages...

... and chances are, your sig would look goofy if split.

160 characters on many carriers. It varies.

sig is the signature that comes with bb auto text. same way i type ld and lt to send the local time and date when I am sending mesg international bkoz sometime mesgs reach so late.

I was about to say that the other characters are for addressing information; but now I'm reading two conflicting wiki's (one that says 160+ and the other says it's 160 inclusive -- but now I'm leaning towards what you said).

However, I also read something I didn't know that explains something: while some messages do get split into two, it's usually the phone software that does this, most carriers truncate the message at 160 characters if the software doesn't do the split. I often wondered why some txt's seemed... well, half finished, heh.

Edit/Add: In any event, the signature method given, using autotext, seems best if you insist on signatures for SMS, but an auto-signature might be a bad idea for the reasons given.
