Welcome to the forums.
You can click on the phone (Call Log) icon, then click the menu key and click View Speed Dial List. Select any letter you want to use, click the menu key, and click New Speed Dial.
OR, from the main screen, just hold down any key for a few seconds and you'll get an option to 'Assign Speed Dial to the <> key?'.
