Default Need help, 8703e

Please Login to Remove!

Ok, let me start by saying I am new here and looking for some help, here is what I am looking to do:

Put pictures and ringtones on my BB.

Here is what I have done:

I have read for the better part of a day and here is what I have determined I needed to do and have done:

I downloaded the new OS from Jimi? the 4.2.1, downloaded the new 4.2 sp2 as I am running 4.1 on my BB.

I then installed the new DM, as my previous DM didn't have the roxio mm on the DM. Then installed the new OS. I also deleted the .xlm or whatever file the post said to delete.

I uploaded the google maps to my BB, works like a champ. Here is my problem:

When I start the roxio, it won't recognize my device, but the other icons in the DM recognize it, I can transfer apps fine, but not anything else.

It also doesn't prompt me to install the new OS like I read in the post.

Then I am also trying to install the plazmic, and it keeps coming up with the error:

Can not find Blackberry JDE 4.2.0 and makes me quit the installation.

I don't believe I have a card in my BB, so I can't use the mass media transfer method.

Any help would be great, sorry for dropping all the bombs at once, but I have removed and reinstalled and tried everything like 3 times each.

Thanks in advance...

Welome to the forums.

The 8703 does not have a micro SD media card, which is what the Roxio software is looking for.

I don't know what the "new OS from Jimi? the 4.2.1" you have. I understood the 8703 is still on the 4.1 OS track. I know if I am incorrect someone will correct me. If you do only have OS 4.1 on your BB, then Roxio will definately not connect to it.

You can get your pictures on the BB by emailing them to yourself. That simple. Save, and you will find them in your Pictures folder.

Ringtones must be uploaded to a website (like a google folder or yahoo briefcases) and navigate there from your BB browser to download, play and save to the device.

Jimi is the guy on the forum here who put the download on his webpage, so you wouldn't have to go through all the hoops to get it at the blackberry site.

when someone sends me a picture, I have to go to the sprint website to view it, and same thing for when someone text's me a pic...why is that?

Thanks

I am not aware of a 4.2.x OS for the CDMA (Sprint, VZW, ...) BlackBerry 8703e. Does the device even work on the Sprint network?

I thought I did...

check my answers above. You can't have OS 4.2 on the 8703, that is why it is not upgrading. Other answers remain the same.

Actually there was a leaked version floating around of 4.2 for the 8703e but it makes your BB into a snail.

Ok,thanks.....will have to wait until the 8800's come out for sprint.

Yes, mine works like a champ on the Sprint network.

Jsanders, you really didn't state that the OS wouldn't work on the 8703e, just that it is on the 4.1 now.

I thought that the 4.2 OS was for all of the 8700's. I am guessing that it is not for the 8703e...

I guess I will have to wait until something else comes out for it...

Thanks for your help!

What exactly is a google folder? I have a bunch of ringtones that I made for my old phone that I would like to use rather than the premade ones.

I just don't know where exactly to go to have .mp3 files hosted. Any links?

upload to any website where you can store them, yahoo briefcase, etc. I don't remember what Google calls their similar storage folder.

Tripod/lycos is another free option. Any free place you can store files.
