I have a Moto Q and in general the phone quality is excellent. I am pleased with the quality of my calls vs. the Treo 650 I had before and the BT works well. However, as many of you may know, integration of the phone and WM is not always that great. Call quality is great when I can receive and/or actually make a call. I also need better email capability - particularly the keyboard. I don't like typing that much on the Q. However #2, this is also my primary line - and my only business line, so I need a quality phone.

For those who had a PDA (Q, Treo, 6700/6800) before you got the 8830, how is the phone/reception quality comparatively?

Verizon's 8830 has super call quality and reception. This is one of the reasons why I still have mine.

Phone quality is great.

The Sprint 8830 is very clear and loud. My 7520 used to be turned up all the way, all the time. The 8830 is at about 50%.

Also, my son and I were talking to my wife via the 8830 speaker phone. She finally asked why I kept passing the phone back and forth. She had no idea we were on a speaker phone. So yes - call quality is pretty darn good.

Agree with the others. I tried a Treo for a few days and preferred the BB phone quality. And the 8830 is, IMO, better than my old 8703e.

Quality is perfect. Its my only phone, and I have no issues.

the phone is solid, Bluetooth works great compared with treo, sound is great.

Thanks everyone - I think I need to move away from WM for more reliability. It is fun to play around, tweak and customize a WM device, but after a month or so I just need it to work! Now, if I can just look past that $40/mo Sprint data plan (I currently have free PV).

Since you are going from free to $40, call up customer service and see if they will do anything to help soften the blow. I have heard of customers getting discounts in the forms of monthly credits or percentage discounts off their monthly bill.

I just made the switch from the sprint Q to the Sprint 8830.

I generally live in a bad service area, and got zero bars with the Q. I have 1-2 bars with the 8830. Call quality is slightly more clear, although I can't complain much about the call quality of the Q either (that was pretty much the only thing that WASN'T an issue with the Q).

Yes, I have read this too elsewhere - and I will definitely ask. I have been a customer for over 8 years and have 3 lines, extras, etc. and spend abotu $125/mo now. I figure Retentions will give me "something" - they have already offered me a Mogul at the new line price with a new line of service - but they are going to credit out the new line price. So, we'll see what they can do!
