I bought this phone w/o knowing if it could work with my carrier (in Jamaica).Currently i am using it w/o the blackberry data plan. The problem is i didnt get the original package because i bought it from someone who was avoiding to pay at the customs so they left the box I only got the phone, usb and charger.

What can be done to have this fixed?

If the BlackBerry is unlocked in most cases it will work if your carrier is a GSM carrier. Check this: How do I determine if my BlackBerry is "unlocked"? - BlackBerryFAQ

Then you may want to check with your carrier to determine if the device is supported, and to add the BlackBerry data plan.

What's broken?
If your phone is already active through your carrier for voice, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to activate a data plan with them.....if that's what your asking.

Nothing is broken just that i wanted to know what i could do to have it set up because i do not have the information they are asking for. I called my carrier and they said i need some information off the box which came with the phone in order to have it set up.

What information? Sounds like you're getting the runaround from the idiots on the line. What were the specific questions they asked you?

They asked if i purchased the phone locally or from overseas, they asked what i got with the phone and if i have some information that's on the box because they will need it in order to have it set up. if not i might have to send it back to the carrier overseas to have it unlocked from their service. But i told it is locked their service here in jamaica.

I never heard of this. You should be able to walk into your provider's walk-in center and activate what ever you want. Usually they ask for the IMEI or the ESN #'s. Which can be found on the phone. If your calling into their support, your better off going to the store, if there's one by you.

As long as it is either:

A - Unlocked

or

B - Locked to your carrier

The only information the carrier will need is the IMEI and PIN numbers. These are available from the menu - settings - status screen.

If they are asking for something other then those items they dont know what they are doing and you should speak to someone who is more technical at your carrier.
