Default T-Mobile 7290 and WAP (NON)connectivity

Please Login to Remove!

I recently discovered a problem with my 7290 connecting to T-Mobile's WAP Gateway. I only use this to set up email on my Blackberry, and the few times I've wanted to access my account through T-Zones.

Over the last weekend, I noticed an error message (time out) when I tried to access the t-zones access point through my BB, and this problem is still occuring. The error message is:

Code:
Unable to connect to WAP Gateway at the following address:

APN: wap.voicestream.com
IP: 216.155.165.50
Port: 9201

You may not currently be in an area covered by wireless
... contact your service provider.
This only affects WAP access. My Internet access remains unchanged. I've checked with another BB in the house (8830) and there is no issue with their access.

I've contacted T-Mobile who pushed me through to RIM who pushed me back to T-Mobile. After being on the phone for 1h23m, it still doesn't work.

Anyone having this same problem, or had it?

Any assistance would be appreciated.

James

UPDATE

It seems this is a network error for T-Mobile and users of the BB7290. It should be corrected by 7PM CDT.

Angry Same problem but with 8800

For the past 2 days I've had the same problem with my 8800. I called t-mobile customer service which was no help because they kept transferring me to different people including RIM. I was so frustrated with them that I hung up.

Well it was a network related problem. Even though T-Mobile said it wasn't at first, and they changed out my SIM card, it turns out it was.

After a couple of days, the problem was resolved. It certainly wasn't done in the timeframe that I was provided, but it wasn't really a feature that I use a lot. If you haven't already removed your battery and SIM card - wait 30 seconds and then reinsert them all, try that. This seems to correct the problem (now), as well as it is good (I've found) for the BB to give it a bit of a reboot from time to time.

Persist with T-Mobile. It was the WAP network that was down. I've had it happen a couple of times since this problem, and I just refer them to the previous trouble ticket, and it seems to provide enough information for them to sort it out.
