SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!
I dropped my Nextel 7100i and now I cannot send or receive calls emails or texts. Network section in options says "Network: 0". In the status section the IP address reads 0.0.0.0. The blackberry works fine except for calls and messaging.
I just came back from the Sprint store and they told me to go to Blackberry for Tech support because they couldnt do anything?
Any ideas?

Sounds like you broke the radio when you dropped it.
I would look on eBay for a 7100i if you want to replace it.
Not sure there's anything we can do for you here.

Have you tried pulling the battery for a few minutes?

What exactly does this mean?
"The blackberry works fine except for calls and messaging."
Besides calls and messaging... what else is there?

So anything that requires the use of the radio is not working... and anything that doesn't require the use of the radio is working fine?

Definitely sounds like the radio is bad.

2 things to try... First, a Master Radio Reset. You can do that from the network screen I think. The reset code is 0000 or 00000 I think. Second is opening up the application loader and running the "reload radio software" These are all Nextel / iDEN specific functions that don't appear on any other devices.

I don't know how it is on the 7100i but on the other Nextel blackberries, the iDEN radio is removable. Probably because they have to buy the technology from Motorola (as far as I know only Moto makes iDEN phones). So I bet Moto makes the circuit boards for them. Anyway back on topic. You could probably swap in an iDEN radio from another 7100i. If you can get one off Ebay that has something else wrong with it you might get by with this.

I wonder what his coverage indicator says? NXTL means everything works. Any lower case letters indicate something not available.
