Default Calendar Help

Please Login to Remove!

On my old 7520, when I had a calendar event "come up", like a meeting etc. my phone would buzz me or sound an audible based on my current settings. More importantly I would look at my phone and on the display there would be the "event" that I am being reminded about.
On my new 8703 the phone buzzes or sounds an audible, depending on my settings, but does not show on the screen the event I am being reminded about. Meaning I don't know if I have a phone call, email or event reminder.

Now to the real question:

Am I missing a "switch" that will allow the 8703 to show on the display what calendar event it is reminding me of when I am alerted?

Is there any way to populate the calendar on the 8703?

Thanks!

I see no one has responded yet. Have you figured it out?

FWIW, I get the window on 8700g. I looked in profiles and calendar options and I didn't see anything to turn the alert window off and on. Maybe theme related?

Nope! Have not figured it out and have not gotten any help on the matter. I am starting to think it must be something obvious??? I have had a Blackberry for years but this deal has me wondering?

Still looking for some assistance over here?

Yeah...hidden in plain sight, maybe. I assume you've done the old battery pull and all that? What about doing a test appointment on the blackberry and seeing if it works? (I'm wondering if there is something going on with appointments originally created in Outlook or something along thise lines...)

I did try all that you mentioned and see from further research there may be something in profiles about it. But I can't find it and am surprised I have gotten as little support on here. I appreciate your thoughts and can only hope someone else will login in who has had the same issues.

What did you see to make you think profiles may be the key? I looked again and don't see anything, as you say you have alert set to something as opposed to set to none.

Below is the article I was referring to, but when I read it more closely it says:

You also get a dialogue on the screen that indicates what the alert is for, allowing you to open the item or dismiss.

Which it really isn't tied to anything, it is just suppose to happen....?

Alerts (9.0)
Alerts on the 8703e are closely tied to profiles. Profiles are fully customizable and allow you to adjust the type of alerts you will receive from different programs, and even different types of incoming email messages. You can choose to get an audio alert, a blinking LED and/or a vibration. You also get a dialogue on the screen that indicates what the alert is for, allowing you to open the item or dismiss. By default, there is no snooze option, however, you can activate the snooze in the calendarís options and choose from several presets for the length of the snooze. You cannot choose how long you want the snooze to be once you have gotten an alert.

I hate to say it, but sure sounds to me like something is FUBAR....sort of like the case for some recently where the new message icon won't go away no matter what they do. I don't think it's you. But I hesitate to suggest reinstalling the OS. Maybe later someone will see this and jump in with a fresh idea.

Always good when suspicions are confirmed. But I'll never be confident enough to straight out say "replace OS." So, I'm happy you weren't afraid to do it.
