Default Things I can't get on AT&T

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8700c with the "new" AT&T. ...

It seemed great to have Yahoo! Messenger and Blackberry Maps on my device. I was disappointed when I found out that neither will work on the AT&T Wireless network. Yay.

I do have Y! Messenger on my Nokia e62, and I have Google Talk on my 8700c. Still, it's frustrating.

Has anyone else run into other applications that won't work on this network? Or are there even more that won't work with other carriers?

Thanks!

BB Maps does work on at&t. However, you'll need to edit your blackberry.alx or replace yours with one that has been modified. There are plenty of threads that address this.

Default BBmaps on AT&T

If you have already installed the OS and don't want to go through it again, you can install Blackberry Maps from BlackBerry - directly to your .

Just connect your berry to the USB and be sure to use IE not Firefox since the applet to install the map software is ActiveX.

In order to get Blackberry Maps you'll need to edit the LBS.alx file, not the Blackberry.alx file. All the edited .alx's can be found in the sticky thread in the Media Center Forum.

Don't get disappointed too easy my friend. When in doubt, do a search or ask and there's always someone who already tackled the issues you're having.

I too have the same problem with the latest AT&T firmware for the 8700c. While Google Talk seems to install, it won't show the icon up on the screen. Must be a problem with the new firmware :(
