Hey guys question for you. First here are my specs.
AT&T 8800 (EDGE network)
we are on a BES ( i manage it)
no IT policy being enforced.
version 4.2.1.79
I use my browser to go to web pages. When you go to gmail.com, it asks you if you want to download the application. No problem there, i downloaded that and it checks and gets emails fine. Little red mail icon on desktop.
I was hoping to do the same thing with my wifes hotmail account while we are on vacation. When i first loaded hotmail.com, it is redirected to live.login.com or something. Then it gives me some error about not having java installed. So i went into the internet browser options under browser configuration, and i checked "Support JavaScript", and "allow JavaScript popups", now when i load hotmail, the screen just is at a white screen. Then i went into General Properties, and checked "Enable JavaScript location support" did that do anything?
I was hoping there was a way to have a little icon(just like gmails), that checks the emails and pushes it down to the handheld.
My wife has the free version of hotmail and I have the same issue with her email. I was actually researching this last night becaue I bought her the 8830.It is my understanding that you have to purchase the $19.95 version to get it to work. You can't even forward it to another account without paying $19.95/yr to get it to work. I may have to buck up and pay the $19.95.
I believe GMail has an application that is loaded on the BlackBerry. That is what you installed on your BlackBerry. Hotmail does not have a BlackBerry application, and, like mmohn01 said above, you will need the Premier account in order to get the push mail. Some older Hotmail accounts works (when set up via the BIS in the carrier web site), but newer ones won't.
Shit! Yeah I saw a thread earlier on this forum about some premier hotmail account for 20 bucks, and I was hoping this was different. Gmail rocks and yet again micro$oft sucks. Maybe I will just force the wife to change email accounts.
