Default Weird New Problem

Please Login to Remove!

Back on 7-18-07 my 7100 (Nextel) died. I started a thread here and it basically wound up that I lost everything since the last sync. On 7-19-07 they had my new phone in. I was pretty impressed with that. This phone was doing fine until about 6 days ago.

First off I can two-way for about 3 minutes or so and the phone portion of my 7100 is gone. It drops me in the middle of a conversation and it's not that I have no signal, its that the phone part gives up. When it started, I could turn off the radio and power it down for a few minutes and power back up and it would be fine. An actual phone call, as opposed to two-way, and I have about 40 seconds including ring time. After 5 or 6 days the power off thing is taking longer and longer.

Second thing is it's started a new thing where it resets the network time arbitrarily. The actual time is always right, but it may go a few days forward or a few days back. I switched it off Network time and over to manual, but it defaults back and the same thing.

The other big thing, to me, is my calendar. It's went completely blank. I keep reseting the date in there to the correct date and I still get a blank calendar. I still get reminders, but I get them for whatever the network happens to be at for the moment. Such as a day or two ahead or a day or two behind. After I reset the date and time, the calendar is still blank, but if I close it out and go back in, it seems to default to December 31, 1969. Weird?

Now I can't even hit 1 to get my voice mail when my phone part actually works because I get a message that there is no phone number associated with my phone. I keep re-putting it back in and it keeps losing it.

I realize that this is more than likely going to be a deal where I take it to Sprint/Nextel and they send me another one. However, if someone here had something similar happen or ideas, I'd like to hear them. Kinda like going to a car mechanic, I feel better going in there if I'm armed with a little info. I perused thru here and tried a search, but to be honest, I couldn't really figure out what "terms" to search.

TIA

I've not had any of those things happen, but I support a lot of the 7100i devices and it sure sounds like you have a faulty device.

What version OS are you running? If not the latest, I'd recommend upgrading the OS to see if that helps. The latest version is 4.1.0.525 and can be downloaded here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...48b07264633fTR

If you already have the latest OS, I'd ask for a replacement.

WHOA! Thanks a lot for the info. I had the newest version on the phone that got sent in a month ago and just assumed (I know) that the latest would come on this phone. I just checked and I'm running v4.1.0.136. That could be quite a few versions ago. I'll do that first and see if it helps.

Thanks Again!
