Default Problems With My 8700c and YIM

Please Login to Remove!

I download/installed YIM via BB Browser. I keep getting " go to: blackberry.com/go/yahoo to activate your yahoo messenger". After I istalled it, I tried to log in with my account info but I keep getting the error "Can not find Server". I called At&t but they could not help me because it was a third party application. I have tried this with all 3 of my YIM accounts. Please Help Me.
Thanks In Advance....
(This is my first post, I hope I made sense )

You need to setup your TCP settings on the BB:
Main Page - BlackBerryFAQ

Let us know if that does what you need.
Good luck, and Welcome to the Forums!

ok, so go there to activate YM.

You may have to pull he battery to reboot the BB to get the TCP to work, also.

OK, I go there, and it just tells you all about yahoo and a link if you do not have a yahoo account, with other links about their leagle stuff. I read nothing about activating it I did down load it and reboot but I still get the same go to message.

I guess I need to stop here, I have never activated Yahoo IM on the BB. At least you have the TCP entered.

Is it something I am doing wrong or is my BB screwed up, or yahoo?
I am sorry...
Maybe I should pay for one of those multi chat applications
Thank You JSanders for all of your help.

When you are in that window (at blackberry.com/etc.) click the trackwheel do you see anything like ACTIVATE?

I don't think anything is wrong with your BB. I just don't know how to activate Yahoo IM, someone else reading this should.

I don't think anything is wrong with either, I just don't know how to guide you through setting up Yahoo on the BB.

JiveTalk works great. It is not high, relative to the use I get out of it.

I held back replying because I'm confused myself. I had gathered there was an issue with the yahoo messenger available from mobile.blackberry.com on AT&T and/or Cingular BBs. If you search on "AT&T yahoo" you will find what I think is a similar thread. May be of some help.

Anyway, there was nothing to activate, if we are talking about the app from RIM. You download and install, launch, sign in, and you are there.

...I looked at that thread. Seems the solution was to resend service books. Have you tried that?

Do you believe that I installed JiveTalk and I got a error after I installed it.
I am so pissed off now that I need a rest...

Take a break. Have coffe, lunch, whatever. Resend service books. If still problems, pull the battery for a minute or so and replace. See what happens.

So for my education (and others who stumble on this thread), simply resending service books isn't going to work, is it (because AT&T doesn't provide the needed service book)? But you found the thread with the link and directions provided by db inc online, which provides the needed service book? Is that it?

Yea, I found the service book but after I installed it and rebooted, I got YIM
working but I lost BB Browser and the Cingular Browser and my Email account.
Had to call AT&T to resend me the the missing apps. Yahoo stated that it does not support AT&T/Cingular in fine print...OH WELL
