Question 8820 GPS & Orange (yes, again ;-)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I'm a french user of an Orange 8820 Blackberry. Everything seems to work fine, except ...GPS !

I tried solutions found on this forum with no changes.

I managed to get Google Maps work, but it doesn't get GPS signal.

BBMap crashes when it's being launched

Orange Navigator (navigation software from Orange) doesn't even detect GPS device !

It looks like GPS is ok (I can see and update it in Option > Advanced options > GPS, it get's satellite signal) but applications aren't able to communicate with the GPS ???

Any idea ?

There is a distinct possibility that your BES is preventing the GPS from interacting with the programs.

Also, I have noted in the past that Orange is included as a blocked operator in the LBS.alx file that controls GPS interaction, so perhaps that is also an issue.

Talking Fixed !!!

Hi all!

Although the symptoms were not the same, I tried John Clark's following trick:
hxx://www.blackberryforums.com/gps-mapping/91383-how-get-bbmaps-show-my-blackberry.html

... and it worked !

Here is what I had before the fix :
- GPS Ok (in Options > Preferences) but not detected in applications (BBMap, GMaps, Orange Navigation ...)

After the fix, everthing works fine (all applications went right) !

BB 8820
OS : 4.2.2.124
Carrier : Orange France

Thanks to dc/dc

On a French PC with this Blackberry and OS, the LBS.alx file is located here : C:\Program Files\Fichiers communs\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8820-v4.2.2.124_P2.4.0.58 (of course )
