Ok this is very strange to me. I went to review a email I recieved and it was gone the next day. I noticed all my replies and sent emails were gone also. I went to my desktop and sent myself a test email and left it unopened. The next day it was gone also. What is the problem here? I dont know what happened.

Memory is getting full. Go to Options >Status and see what the free memory is. Removing the battery and reinserting is a good way to quickly free memory.

Yes I tried the battery when anything starts happening. The memory is not near full. I have or had maybe 20 or 30 emails and not much of a call log. I removed the battery because that was my first though when it goes through the auto shut. Any other suggestions?

How much memory, exactly, do you have? Look in Options >Status. What does it say next to "free memory?"

Do you take pictures with it? Where are they saved? Do you have a microSD card?

No pictures on the device since its a 8700c. I have 37,514,256 bytes out of 64,749,568 bytes

Is the time and date correct? Not sure why the messages would be disappearing. Are you using GMail? Is Outlook set up to delete the mails off the server after being read on the computer? If the mails are deleted off the server, they are deleted off of the device with the new BIS 2.3, for some of the email providers.

No on the outlook I don't have a server anything. Emails from the desktop are copied to the bb. They always stayed on the device until now.
I'm just getting pissed with this.

You checked the date and time? An incorrect date can purge your emails prematurely.

Ensure time is correct. Also, if you are ever using a BIS, ensure wireless reconcile is turned off temporarily if by chance it gives you issues.

The next step would be to clear the Messages Database, using BlackBerry Desktop Manager. There may be a small corruption that is causing the msg's to erase prematurely.

Time is set correct and in the right zone. I never had this problem before just annoying since I need to refer back to emails I got the day before and they are always gone. I keep testing it. I send myself a email. I dont open it on my desktop and the next morning its gone. Arrghhh! This is pissing me off.

Here is what I would do at this point. Go to Message >Options >Email reconciliation and turn "wireless reconcile" to "off." Try it like that and see what happens. If that doesn't fix it I would reload/upgrade the OS on the device. If none of this works I would call Cingular and see if there is anything on their end they can do.

I turned off the reconcile and will try it again. I didnt think that would have anything to do with it since the Wireless reconcile is for the BES and not the BIS. I will try it again though.

When you get to the menu for email reconciliation change where it says "desktop" to your other email accounts.

I have the reconcile set with my Blackberry email account not my desktop account this is why Im confused.

You can turn on and off wireless reconcile for each individual account under >Messages. >Options >Email Reconciliation. Highlight "desktop" and click the wheel and select "change option" and change it to your email account in question. Then set wireless reconcile to "off" for that account. Your settings for "desktop" will remain unchanged.

Ok done and test email was sent. I will wait for tomorrow to see if its still there. I have no emails on the device only the sent ones are there. I saved one and its still in the saved folder. I hope its not a issue with the 4.2 I installed per directions from here.

I'm having a slightly similar issue. I have numerous outlook folder rules that are auto-foldering email as I recieve them. And while they are showing up as unread on my blackberry, upon "reading them" they are folding to specific folders and disappearing from my main inbox view. I somehow managed to get them to just display the folder icon last friday, and remain in my inbox I powered off my blackberry this weekend, to do a hardreset and now the problem is has started anew. Has anyone else experienced this issue and know an alternative solution to my problem?
I have set up the blackberry service redirection service(server-side and now I'm going to try the redirector as well), however I can't leave my workstation on 24-7. Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

I think I have a similar problem as described elsewhere in this thread. I've noticed within the last three days that emails that I replied to have been deleted (overnight it sems), all that's left is my sent email, not the original email that I received. Having used a blackberry for over 6 years, I am stumped. I called AT&T and they have no clue. Here's what I've done so far:

Using software version 4.2.2.170 (platform 2.5.0.30) & BIS 2.0

-Checked device memory: more than enough free since I have a 2 gig microSD card which is used for storage of pictures, music, etc.

-Sent myself new service books

-removed and replaced the battery (hard booted the device)

-Cycled the wireless sync option from off to on / and vice versa (it's on now)

At this point I'm at a loss. I have never had a blackberry ever do this to me before. I know that messages may delete if the device memory gets low, but that's not the case. Any help anyone could provide would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Just how much device memory do you have? Check in Options >Status and let us know.

I have 6,179,393 bytes left - this should be enough... Shouldn't it? Thank you.
