Thumbs up

You can use it for Phone and SMS without a Blackberry Data Plan.

You will not get rid of that until you have a BB Data Plan if Data is turned on. I am not sure how to do it on your phone but it should be under options>Advanced ----- Data = Off.

This should clear the message and allow you to call and SMS but nothing else.

I don;t think that was the correct Route. Can someone else please help with steps for disabling data on a 72XX and leave phone and sms on????

You canNOT do so on a 72xx. It's either all or nothing.

Newer models and newer OS you can do so.

Ok, so I was wrong? And they cannot just do SMS and phone or they will just have to live with the Data Connection Refused?

What say you JS?

Yea, the user should have Phone and SMS on his BB, with or without a Dataplan.

But on that model -- I believe -- you cannot disable data only, like you can on your 8100 or my 8800.

If you bought it used, there could be some kind of IT Security policy disabling use of the phone, maybe?
