Default Gmail crash after upgrading to OS 4.2

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

I have a 8700 (with Rogers).
I upgraded to the new OS 4.2.1.

Now, when I am replying to a message in gmail, the application freezes and eventually the following error message is displayed:

Uncaught exception: Application com_google_gmail_lib (160) is not responding; process terminated.
After clicking OK on the error message, gmail is terminated and my reply is deleted. I have to start composing my reply again and then it will crash again (consistent crashing). It only seems to crash if I'm writing a larger reply (around 1 to 2 paragraphs).

I never had this issue with the 8700 running OS 4.1.

Does again one have any suggestions?

I am going to uninstall and re-install gmail now to see if that does the trick.

Yes it should as there are some changes in the OS that probably caused that.

Okay, I uninstalled Google Service from my Blackberry (which includes Gmail) and have now installed Gmail standalone for Blackberry from gmail.com/app

The same problem still happens, although he's the error message from the standalone version of Gmail:

"Uncaught exception: Application gm_8700_v4_0_L1(113) is not responding; process terminated."

Does anyone have any suggestions aside from downgrading to OS 4.1 ???

PS I never had this problem with OS 4.1.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Did you try hard reset between uninstall and reinstall, or after the reinstall?

no I didn't. Do you think it will make a difference?
This seems like a software/OS bug... 8800 users are reporting similar behavior:

unhandled exception with large emails on 8300 - Gmail for mobile | Grupos de Google

any other suggestions aside from downgrading my OS?? I'm getting very close to going back to OS 4.1

Hard ressets (i.e. removing the the battery for 30+ seconds) fix many issues. It's the first thing to try when you have problems with the blackberry.
