Default JSanders - can you help me with outlook 2007 sync

Please Login to Remove!

I have spent 2 days now trying to get my 8830 to sync with outlook 2007. When I got the BB on Friday it syncd perfectly with my outlook express contacts etc.

I upgraded to Outlook 2007 and appeared to lose capability. I have uninstalled and reinstalled 4/5 times already. Consistently get the error that "database is missing, invalid or zero bytes".

I noticed that Office 97 was still installed and I uninstalled that. Again uninstalled and reinstalled BDS new error - cannot configure application as I get "application has failed to install as MAPI32.DLL not found. I repaired, reinstalled still no change. I am now downloading 4.2.2 from the internet again - although the version I am on is 4.2.2.12 so I don't know if this will help. BTW Intellisync is not even shown as an ICON

I trust you have the latest Desktop Manager installed? If so, you can change which PIM Program you are using to sync with by going to:

Desktop Manager/Sync/Configuration/Configure Sync

Make sure you change all four components to MS Outlook. I'm not sure whether the Contacts will sync over properly, as they may be in a different format. Have you tried opening Outlook first and making sure all your Contact from Outlook Express have been brought over to Outlook's Contacts? If you now have MS Outlook properly set up, make sure you follow the synchronization configuration within DM and you should be good to go.

ok, so I ran FIXMAPI and that seems to have solved that problem. I am back to the original "the file or database name associated with microsoft outlook is missing, invalid or points to a file of zero length

Irish, I have seen that error posted on here before, and there have been multiple reasons for it, I couldn't find the threads just now without taking longer.

I did find this on the RIM knowledgebase for you, I would try those resolutions (such as making sure your Outlook is the default message client, etc., and see if one of them work for you.

Here is the link:

and another:

GOOD LUCK, please post back results?

OK, I have to get out of here for today. I did try everything I found on these posts - and google - but I'm not getting anywhere - the s/w has been installed and uninstalled upwards of 8 times at this point.

I'll get back on it in the morning

Thanks

ok, I have tried everything suggested where possible. I have uninstalled Business Contact Manger from Outlook. I have also seen that in control panel/internet options/ I cannot make Outlook my default email - I cannot make anything my default - newsgroups is set to MS express and calendar and contacts are set to MS Outlok, there are no dropdowns available other than those set?

HELP

On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click Other.
Under General, select the Make Outlook the default program for E-mail, Contacts, and Calendar check box.

Does this help.
