You can also go to the Menu (while reading gmail) and select 'reconcile now'. Works fine for me.

Hope this helps someone.

sorry to bring back from the dead an old thread as my first post, but this worked for me.

Same here. Not instantly, but it always deletes.

Flawless Performance for me on my Verizon 8830, I have had no issues with Gmail. I also have the Gmail applet installed so that my wife can easily check her mail while we are out. Gmail is flawless .. I have my gmail setup for IMAP, I am not sure if that makes a difference, but it does auto sync. If I check the mail on my blackberry, it is checked when it downloads on my mac. If I delete it, it automatically deletes it on the server side.

Plethora of information located in this thread relating to this topic.

It's interesting that some people have no problems, while others find it completely unusable.

Through BIS, I am able to reconcile from the inbox side but not in the sent folder. Interesting....

Have you tried setting Gmail up for IMAP? ... You can google the instructions on how to setup BIS for it after you disable POP for the Gmail settings. Works great for me.

Thank you. I will try to figure out what you are suggesting to do.

I've tested Gmail's IMAP support pretty thoroughly, see my comments here.

In a nutshell, you get the same email (not contacts, not calendar, just email) reconciliation as BES except it's a bit slower in my experience, and updates performed from the Gmail web interface (read markers, deletes) are not reflected on the device. If like me you hardly ever use the Gmail interface, this is not a problem at all.

Quick question, is this something special for the 8830 on Verizon or any BB device? One of our execs has the 8830 but I have the 8820 and would like to utilize Gmail. Do I need to an app or can I just setup my account and direct my BIS account to get the mail?

Thanks.
