I am trying to use my T-Mobile 8700G as a modem for my Dell Axim x51v. I turned on Bluetooth on both devices paired them up. And heres the steps I did so far.


On the Dell Axim I clicked Start---Setttings----Connections
Chose my Blackberry Phone but there is no modem listed there.


Can anyone give me instructions how to get my Axim to view my Blackberry as a modem so I can use the internet on my Axim

Tap Start > Settings > connections > add new modem connection* > enter name for connection (chose a reasonable name like "T-Mobile GPRS")

Select modem: Bluetooth Dialup Modem
Tap next

Dialing number: *99#
make sure "use dialling rules" is not checked

User name: (leave blank)
Password: (leave blank)
Domain: (leave blank)

Baud rate: 115200

uncheck: "wait for dial tone before dialing"

Set extra dial-string modem command to: +CGDCONT=1, "IP", "wap.voicestream.com"

Leave everything else set to its default settings, which should be:

Data bits: 8
Parity: none
Stop bits: 1
Flow control: hardware

Select TCP/IP tab:

Use server assigned IP address (checked)
Use software compression (checked)
IP header compression (checked)

Select Servers tab and enter the following settings*:

User server assigned address (checked)

Configuration is done.

Now, make sure your are paired. Open browser and it should dial and give you access.

But I do not see anything in the box. The box is empty. I can not choose
Bluetooth Dialup Modem

Interesing. You should have three choices under "Select a Modem"
- Bluetooth
- Generic LrDA
- Hayes Compatible on COM1

BTW, this assumes that you are running OS 4.2 on you BB. Version 4.1 does not have DUN profiles. Are you running 4.1? If so, you can upgrade by following instructions in this board.

Otherwise, this is a Axim problem. Try a soft reset.

According to T-Mobile 4.1.0.346 is the latest software for my Blackberry and that is what i have. I tried a soft reset on my Axim and that didnt help either.

I thought Bluetooth on the 87xx series was voice only, not data? Maybe OS 4.2 changed that?

After upgrading and deleting the old pair and starting a new one I can now get internet on my Axim. Thanks again
