Default Dropped Calls in the Chicago area

Please Login to Remove!

I am using the 8700 g with the latest software. There are certain spots my calls will drop calls for no reason. It is not a reception problem since i tried these spots with different basic phones(not BB). First i loose audio and after 20-30 seconds the connection is lost. The signal strength is good so no problem with the reception. I changed my device but problem still occurs. Not only in Chicago even in the Rockford area certain spots i will loose connection. tried almost everthing,re loaded the software etc. I used my simcard with previous phones(Dash, razr etc) and never experienced this problem so i dont think its the sim card either. I called Tmobile and Rim numerous times and was told that i have learn to live with that. They had no idea what was going on. I am so unhappy.

It basically comes down to the new OS interacting with T-Mobile's network in certain areas, and intermittenly at that. Within the last 48 hours T-Mobile pulled the 4.2.1.91 OS from their website, and one can only assume it's because of the people who have called in and complained regarding the exact same problem you are describing. In the meantime, the only solution is to rollback your software to 4.1 <boo!!> but I would recommend calling and complaining and make sure that they know that <somewhere> this is a known issue and that they set a precedent by re-releasing the Pearl software after it was discovered that there was the same issue that you are now experiencing.

Tmobile acts like i am the only person on earth who has this type of issue. If i downgrade my OS will my problems solved? The previous OS had a conflict with my Bloutooth headset(Plantronics 510 voyager) and was kicking out the connection. But its better not to use the bluetooth than dropping calls. Which Os shall i go with? Thanks a lot

They told me I was the only person who has had this problem as well. So I made it my life's goal to call them everyday since they released the 4.2.1.91 version and talk to them about it, in depth, so that hopefully if other people called in, they might get a semi-educated response. (as opposed to the generic "this is the first time we've heard of this") Oh well, 300 'ish CSR's and 25 some-odd days.. ok, some i'm about 10% of the way there

I would recommend the AT&T 4.1 OS (i'm not sure what the version number is) it was the latest 4.1 to be released.

For reference:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...data-plan.html

and there are a few 8100 threads where people had the same problem, but T-mobile has already released a new OS for them which corrected the problem.

Was it the latest that T-Mobile had to offer, or was it the latest 8700 GSM OS? I would recommend you try and upgrade to the 4.2.1.101 version (in the sticky at the top of this forum) and test that out first. It may work for you. If not, then you could go back down to the 4.1 OS.

I agree with Jeremy that you should definitely try the .101 software

But if your problem is the same as ours (and the people who had this issue with the Pearl), it won't work. Any software above 4.2.0 is what gives us the problem

I have the same problem in NY and I got the same run around from tmo and rim. They also denied that any one else had this problem. So I down graded to 4.1 and problem was solved. BUT the solution still sucks.
