how do i put a ringtone i made on the device its self my connecting it for the 8700g

When I"ve created ringtones with MiniRingtone, it gave me a warning if the file was over 120 kb, saying I might not be able to download it. I don't really know what the limit is for sure though.

To get your ringtone on your handheld, you need to upload the file to a website and download it from there. There's another thread here with the names of some free places to have a website. You can find it by searching the forum.

I have used a free program called Audacity. It is a very simple to use mp3 editing tool. Some of the file sizes I have on my ringers are about 300kb for 25-30sec of ringer. I have had some troubles on my device with ringers in the 400-500kb range, so I keep them smaller.
