Default T-Mobile 7100 in USVI

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone have any info on coverage for a T-Mobile 7100 on the islands of St. Thomas and St. John in the US Virgin Islands? Has anyone used their TMO 7100 while down there? If so, please share how it went and any info needed to make this work.

Thanks!

Cingular has decent coverage in St. Croix (that's as close as I can get you) and my T-Mobile 7100t roamed there when I was down there a few months ago. In fact, Cingular is the only carrier that will sell BlackBerrys down in the USVI (out of Puerto Rico)...

Thanks

When you say your 7100t "roamed" while down there you mean the phone functions worked, but the email aspects didn't because there wasn't any digital coverage for TMO right?

T-Mobile has no network down there at all. They "roam" onto the 850 MHz Cingular network, with both voice and e-mail/web. Everything worked fine. Note that only the 7100t and 7290 have the 850 MHz band, so someone with a T-Mobile 7230 is out of luck!

Perfect

Let me clarify, so I will only have to pay whatever the "roaming" rates are for that location, but will be able to use both voice and data functionality correct?

Thanks, just want to make sure

Yes. ** Assuming that Cingular has coverage where you are ** I have not tried this in St. John.

I would check the Cingular web site for coverage in the USVI.
