Question Slow & sluggish 8830

Please Login to Remove!

So my VZW 8830 was working fine, but yesterday I installed the following programs:
  1. Viigo
  2. JiveTalk
  3. IdeaMatrix
  4. TodoMatrix
  5. Beyond411
  6. Mobipocket

And now it's running really slow... the little spinning hourglass appears by itself every 15 seconds or so for a couple seconds, then it disappears. The buttons and menus are slow to respond. It's like it's possessed by a little demon.

Help please! Thanks very much.

Default ugghhh...

Man I spent all friggin day trying to fix this yesterday...

Yeah I tried the battery reset, I also tried to Alt-Shift-Del reset -- to no avail.

Finally I just uninstalled Ideamatrix and Todomatrix and walah! Problem fixed -- my 8830 is running at Ferrari like speeds again

Thanks!

Was TDM or IDM accessing the network a lot? I'm not sure how frequently they do... Maybe you could change the frequency of updating to the web client... it's probably something you should let the Rex guys know about.

I don't use either program, so I can't suggest more than that.

Default had the same problem the other day...

turned mass storage on and off, resynced a few times with BB Manager and it magically got better. Unsettling - makes me wonder what magic combo of events will make it happen again....

I have a similar problem, if I go on certain websites, some requiring java. i.e (discovercard.com) to check my balance. it stops loading midpage and spins the hourglass for lyk 10 seconds hten stops. then repeats and even after you exit the browser it continues to do the same thing. Anybody know why it does this or how to fix this?

Wanna hear something funny? It does exactly as you describe when I try to hit verizonwireless.com. Spinning hour glass, then locks up, and the hourglass just keeps going until I pull the battery. Must be something with the standard internet browser and vzw.com because when I had opera loaded, I could get vzw.com just fine.

Yep! Opera Mini 4 might be just what you're looking for. Go to 'operamini.com' (minus the ' marks) from your BB browser and follow the instructions to download it OTA. It works very well on my BB 8820! Try it out and let us know how you like it.

Can you elaborate on "it wouldnt let me"? What happened when you selected the download link on the site?

I second Opera Mini ... Great little application, I too have had times that the hour glass magically appears and spins when I visit certain websites.
