Default Will Verizon let me re-activate my 8703e w/o a data plan?

Please Login to Remove!

I just recently upgraded my BB 8703e to the Verizon 8830. Will Verizon allow me to re-activate the 8703e on my wife's line if I do not select a data plan? Basically, she wants to use it for the PIM and SMS features?

Thanks.

From what I have heard and read, Verizon will not let you do that. Plus Verizon uses a lot of data anyway to keep the device updated according to some of my Verizon friends, so rather than charge you it is best to have a data plan.

I'll update the thread if I luck out. I know there are a lot of people who want to use these devices for reasons other than data / email.

There was a blog written by a guy who interviewed someone from Rim about this very topic (I cannot remember who). The interview concluded that there may be leniency toward non-data usage with the BB in the future. We will see what the future holds....
