No, there is no way to prevent messages from being delivered to the Messages inbox.

No, there isn't.
'Messages' is a consolidated inbox which gathers mail from all of the email accounts linked to your device.
You should also have an icon for just your AOL mail. That would have messages only from your AOL account.

Is your device on a BES? Perhaps your AOL mail icon is hidden?

I am on BES. I have an Inbox which is displaying my BES mail and both AOL accounts. I also have two separate icons for each AOL accounts on the main screen.

OK, so then you have your answer.
'Messages' will display your BES mail along with every other mail account on your device.
Each of your AOL icons will display mail only from those respective AOL accounts.

Your device is behaving exactly as it was designed to behave.

Thanks a bunch man. That is kind of disappointing though you would think there would be a way to separate the mail to make it a lil more organized because I open up the messages folder intending to read just work related mail and end up seeing both work and personal. Oh well I'll get used to it!!!

Would I be able just to add another account for my business email to create another inbox icon on the mail screen? Or would that work since it is on BES?

Yeah, think of the Messages icon as more of a "Mailbox" for everything. I don't like the pricipal behind it. That is why I just use each individual email account icon to read my mail. It keeps it simple and clean. I find it strange that you being on BES doesn't give you an icon with your work email so you can use that and just hide the messages icon.

Nope my work mail goes straight to the messages folder. But that will work by going to that bis site and entering my work email will create a third inbox (two AOL accounts) and I can hide the messages folder?

You should check with your company IT department and/or BES administrator.
They may disallow you from adding your work e-mail as a BIS account.
It might not even be possible to do it, depending on your mail server environment.
Most companies use BES for a reason. My guess is BIS will not be an option for your work e-mail, since you have a BES.

Keep in mind... hiding the Messages icon will also prevent you from seeing PIN messages and Browser messages as well as your BES mail.

Yeah, this is more of an "idiot slap on the head" overlook on RIM's side of the pond. They really should show a separate email account icon even if your work email is on BES instead of BIS. This along with other things are reasons enough for me not to want to use BES for the users I have with BBs. We setup all their emails in BIS and just require them to plug in to sync calendar and contacts. It doesn't bother them to do so and everything is kept simple and clean. RIM needs to review and redesign BES to fix all there little "by design" quirks, not to mention update BES and BIS to support HTML email already.... it's almost 2008 after all.

Yeah I understand where your coming from. I just do not know what one was thinking when they decided to make the "messages" inbox a consolidated inbox. What is the fun in that because the user themselves then has to become the filter and find the email that they are looking for a go through all the unwanted mail that is showing up a second time (once in own designated inbox). When a user opens there messages folder and between all three accounts or however many has 70+ emails, the messages inboxes looks like a disaster area. This was def a bonehead move by RIM and needs to be fixed in upcoming models because they didn't change it with the 8800 and like you said civic its almost 2008.
