Default Wired sync possible

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,
I am new to the BB scene & was wondering if there is a way to do a wired sync with Groupwise? I have not set up a BES yet & thus have not activated the data plan. However, while I am getting everything set up & configured, I would like to get my calendar & contacts into my BB. Anyone know of how I can do this through the USB cable?

Ok... several hours later I got it. Yes, desktop mgr was used to sync, but I could not get it to do it by itself. When I would configure the PIM to read an address book, the "ok" button would always be grayed out if I chose GroupWise. For some reason the option was never available for me. However, it had no issues with Outlook. Although I do not use Outlook, it got me thinking that if I can import from Outlook, would it be easier to make a file from groupwise that was importable to outlook & then import that into my BB? I found a way (not sure that this is the easiest way, but it worked for me):

1. Export contacts from GroupWise as a .NAB file.
2. Open file with MS Word
3. Save file as a .csv file from word using ASCII encoding
4. Open Desktop Mgr > choose IntelliSync
5. Configure PIM
6. Choose to import from another application
7. Import the .csv file from step 3
8. Map the fields in .csv file to match destination > click ok
9. Synchronize

This worked for me & now I don't have to enter in over 200 contacts by hand.

yuck - that sounds messy - some versions of groupwise client do not play well with versions of desktop manager (i.e. groupwise 7.0 and desktop mgr 4.1) the newest version of d.m. should work well with your groupwise client is ancient.
