Default Issue with Desktop software

Please Login to Remove!

Hey,

Just trying to setup my BB and I am having an issue with getting it work with the blackberry desktop software. When I connect the BB to my computer, desktop software says working and greys everything out. However it will sit there and do nothing. Once I unplug the BB, it pops up asking me to generate a new key. After that it tells me the device has been disconnected. Any info is a help.

Cap'n, Welcome to the forums.

Is this a new BB or you bought used, or have you been able to connect it to Deskopt Manager in the past?
Make sure you have the LATEST version of Desktop Manager on your PC...
(you will want the Version 4.2, Service Pack 2 without the Roxio Media software.

Good luck.

Used one for work. The version is 4.2. It has the roxio media thing included but I didn't install it. What's the difference?

I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software.

I have had exactly the same issue as Cap'n Evil. I have de-installed
the software and gone through the registry and deleted all the entries
and hard deleted all the stuff as per the knowledge base article and

I am still greying out as well.

Take the battery out of the handheld for 10 seconds. 99% of the time that fixes this issue.
