Default Noob backlight question

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know how to make the 8830 backlight stay at its brightest all the time? I have to manually hit the power button to make it go brighter. I set the backlight to its brightest in the settings but it still comes up dim when I first unlock it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Default Turn off Automatic Backlight

Is your Automatic Backlight turned on? If it is, it will adjust the backlight based on ambient light (for example, it won't be very bright if you are in a dark room).

If you want it at a certain level all the time turn off Automatic Backlight. It's located in Options | Screen/Keyboard.

That actually still dont work, because the 100% is still based on the lower setting of the backlight. You still have to hit the power button again to take it to the brightest level. I wish it would go there automatically, but not sure how to do it either.

You can't. You can set the back light to 100% and turn the auto dim off and thats it. That will be bright enough for most 90% of the time. Hitting the power button increases the light to beyond the 100% and is great when you need it in very bright conditions.

Indeed.
There are two advertised brightness levels, and a very bright level for extremely bright conditions, activated by pressing the power button.
I would think that the bright, bright level would be a little much for low to no light conditions and would wreak havok with the battery life.

Yes ma'am, it's like you can turn it up to eleven!

RIM thought of everything.

Wish the pearl had that option. It only goes to "eleven" if you have auto backlight on.
