I have searched this question but I'm hoping there is another answer than what I found. Is there a way to simply keep files on an SD card and access them directly without using a remote server service? I can't understand why there would be an SD card slot and no ability to read this card and access files directly. I need the ability to access word doc and pdf files to attach to emails versus just opening email file attachments. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

uzurp, I agree with you. it seems that the SD Card is save pics and media files only. Is there a way that we can install software on the SD card similar to what we can do on other devices such as Pocket PC?

A couple of searches would answer the question for you, but the bottom line is that using the card for anything but media is EXTREMELY difficult if not impossible. Will Docs2Go change that -- maybe, but bets are open.

I am told that eFile from Dynoplex will do what you want.

Remember, it's a Media card, and they call it that for a reason (music, etc), and it's a BlackBerry--not a laptop.

You can drag and drop Word and PDF files onto the media card using Media Manager and attach them to emails sent from the BB . You CANNOT open saved Word or PDF files that are saved that way that I can discover. The files appear to be invisible to the Media function on the BB however you can e-mail them to the BB and open them. PDF files received by the BB as an attachment can be saved to the BB media card. Word doc's can be edited and then saved to the unit using the copy/paste function and pasting the text into MemoPad. The doc can then be edited and saved, then ultimately copied out of the BB and into your PC, again using Media Manager.
