I just bought a used 7100i on ebay, i put my SIM card which belonged to a i760 nextel motorola, i tryed to create an account on BIS but it says the PIN is already inuse by another user, is there anyway i reset this or will BIS drop the PIN eventually? i tryed to use the forgot password option on the site and it i put the PIN of the phone and it said that it would send a msg to my phone, but the msg never came, i also checked on options -> status -> and the IP is 0.0.0.0 this is weird because on my i760 it always had an IP address, my wireless coverage is NXTl, does it need to be a NXTL in order to receive emails/PIN msgs? or will it work with NXTl but they will just charge me more?

Thankyou for the reply but the phone does work, i can make phone calls and use the DC only things that arnt working are the email and the sms, txt, msgs, now, i understand that 7100i on nextel does not suppport the sms which i dont care , im trying to setup my email account. I dont belive the FAQ link u gave me applys to this situation.

When i click the Host Routing Table and Register now, i can see the IP address but it only stays for a few min, then changes back to 0.0.0.0 does this have todo anything with the my plan? and if i wipe the device would this fix it?

"-- Have them check to see if the PIN and IMEI have been released "

i belive he did not do this, is there a way i can do this by calling nextel? or is there a way to do this manual ?

You need to have your carrier or the previous owner release the PIN so that you can use it.

The FAQ posted by Dawg does apply, and is very specific about releasing the PIN from the previous owner, etc.

figured what was the problem, i was using my i760 SIM card insted of the 7100i SIM card.
