I have an Sprint 8703e and there seems to be a few times a week that I will be in the middle of an email or using the AIM chat client and my unit will just power itself down.

90% of the time this happens when I am using AIM. I am using the free version that is downloaded and not any of the 3rd party softwares that are out there.

Anybody had this issue? What is the resolve on it? I have tried to narrow it down to what I was doing at the time it happens, to see if is software related or if it is device related. Can't really tell as it happens when I am sending email or using the chat client.

Keep in mind this is not going thru a soft reset. It just completely shuts down.

I've never had mine just power down like you described but I have had it reset from time to time by itself. I haven't found a solution yet.

You may try removing the AOL chat client temporarily to see if the issue resolves itself. If not, you may try wiping the device and reloading the OS.

Another thing I thought of: possibly replace the battery? Worth a shot.
