Back in mid July my 7100i crashed. I had it about 13 months. The phone portion of the replacement quit almost immediately. I went from Aug 9th 'til today without telephone. The PDA portion worked fine, just no phone. I also kept getting Patriot link errors and so forth.

A replacement for the replacement came in today and it had the same problem right off the bat. Further investigation into the problem revealed that the original Sprint/Nextel store where I upgraded from the i730 to the 7100i couldn't get my numbers copied from my old sim card to a new one and I've been using an old i730 sim this whole time. Sprint/Nextel even still had me in the system as having a i730. A new sim card did the trick.

Might be one thing to check if you have problems with your 7100i and can't resolve them.

ETA: That did not do the trick. At 4PM that same evening it started doing the same thing. The Nextel store bought the phone back from me and told me to pick out anything for free. They said that when the issues with the 7100i were resolved I had the option to keep this phone or go back to my Blackberry.

Missing my BB something fierce. I talked to the local service store for Sprint/Nextel and she has over 30 7100i's she has collected that have the same problem. She assured me they're working on it. I hope it's fixed soon I don't want to go back to carrying two devices, one PDA and one phone.

Why not go with Sprint and get the 8830. MUCH MUCH better device.

I would and it would be a smooth transition to Sprint, but this is my company phone and we have a LOT of people on our plan that are out and about. About 20-30% of them only have two-way on their phones and I need to be able to get in touch with them.

I have an old Sprint phone still that's a smartphone with Palm OS. I have thought about it, but would hate to have to carry two phones around. Kinda defeats the purpose of a smartphone.LOL!
