i just recieved a 7100t off ebay and wanna check to see if it is brand new or a referb... is there a way to tell? the box was opened for "photos on ebay" (which is bull) and a cable and holster were missing. is there an option in the phone to check out these issues and see if this is still a new phone??

It's a longshot, for sure...

You can try going into the phone module, and choosing Status from the menu. If the seller didn't recently wipe the handheld and reinstall the OS, there's a chance that there might be some info in the Total Calls field. Might give you an indicator of how much the device was used, if at all.

with bb's it's impossible to use the same PIN on the BWC... if you go to BWC to try to set up your account and when it asks you for the pin and when you put it in and it gives you an error message then that means the phone has been used and not reburb. If it was refurb then your service provider would have released the PIN or assigned a new one. That's the only way you can really tell... either than or call your service provider and see if it was ever attached to an account... if you give them the IMEI then they can tell if it is a refurb phone or not... at least it's that way with Cingular.

either that or you can also contact paypal if that's how you paid and dispute the charge stating that it was "not as discribed" if the phone is in really bad shape.
