Default Can a VZW 8830 handle two phone numbers?

I may need to have a second phone line. Can the 8830 with VZW handle two phone lines in a single device or will I need to buy another phone? I don't need to have both lines active at the same time. I only need one line on the phone "active" at a time assuming the other would just go to voice mail if a call comes through.

On one line at a time on Blackberry. You would have to exchange SIM cards when you wanted to switch. I have heard of dual SIM card holders but?

Since you are on Verizon, I believe the answer is: You will need another phone with a different number. You should check with Verizon, though

GSM phones have the capability to have more than one line per SIM based on the provider (not common), or can use a dual-sim holder (only for some phones). In either case, only one line can be active.

Even the 8830 will only have one number, since the SIM doesn't work in the US, only overseas, and the Verizon 8830 is locked to the Verizon network.
