How do I "text" to a 5 digit number

Default How do I "text" to a 5 digit number

This must really be basic but I am stumped.
I am trying to access my bank online. The instructions are:

Text all commands to CHASE (24273)

The only "text" that I know is SMS and that requires an entire phone number. Am I missing something really basic?
