I came from a pda environment where ms word and Excel and pdf files were easily xfered from pc to pda and back.
Now with my new 8830 I can look at a small snip if the file is sent to me via email, but ya can't save it or edit it.
Can someone lead me to a solution
I find the same 5 or 6 apps and 10-12 games on every website i search.
Are there any "real" apps for the 8830?

Short answer (the one you're not looking for)..
No, there aren't. The blackberry is meant to be a communication device (phone, email, etc.) you won't find any applications that are much for productivity (besides email) unless you start looking for eoffice (DynoPlex,Inc. is a leading developer of wireless document management solutions for handheld devices and enterprise grade productivity applications for RIM Blackberry. = $120-200) or other expensive 3rd party office applications.
