hi, I bought the 8700c not to long ago, I want to change the background picture on my phone, and I downloaded the blackberry desktop software and when I connect my phone to my computer via USB it does charge and all, but my computer/desktop software doesn’t recognize the phone so I can't do anything but charge it, is there anything I need to get besides the software, like some drivers or something? I tried loading the desktop manager and tried to recognize the phone but it says no mobiles devices are plugged in or somehting to that effect. PLEASE HELP ME

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling? Make sure you are using the latest version of the Desktop Manager, too, which I believe is 4.2 Service Pack 2.

You might try a different USB port and/or different USB cable, in addition to what jeremyckitching suggested.

I managed to do this on my blackberry by not pushing the USB cable all the way into the device. The power connected, but Windows threw me a little "unrecognized USB device" error. The blackberry registered that it was connected, and it was getting power from the cord, but I jiggled it and it slid in a little more and then connected fine.

Try a new cable, or try blowing out the USB port on your BB with a can of air or something.
