| I had the same problem on a 7290 and an 8700c. I have never pulled apart a 7100, but it should be mostly the same guts. The wheels tend to gather dust bunnies. Once disassembled, I used a paper clip pull out the gunk that built up under the wheel. On the older models, the wheel was on its own PCB and I replaced a faulty one using parts from one with a broken screen.
