I'm buying an 8820. The $200 savings/2 year contract saves me (actually my company) only $8.33 a month.

1. If I pay full price for the phone from ATT can I use it with another carrier?

2. If I pay full price, will ATT set me up on a month to month so I can switch later if I decide to.

1 - Yes, you can use it with another carrier that has the same network type (i.e., T-Mobile OK, Sprint, not OK). You'd have to have the device 'unlocked' first to do so. Search for GSMPhonesource here and they can help.

2 - Not sure about month to month... you could call them or someone here may know, too.

I don't think ATT will just sell the phone with out a serivce contract(may be wrong). If I were I would try to find one on ebay or craiglist.
