Default Authentication Problem w/GMail + Blackberry 8703e

Please Login to Remove!

I've been using GMail Mobile for Apps for the last couple of months on
my Blackberry 8703e (Verizon) and while I love the sync functionality
the performance of the app is pretty bad. I get a lot of "Loading..."
messages even when the e-mails themselves are very small in size (just
text).

However, the biggest problem I'm facing is authentication errors.
About 1/3 of the time when I go to send a message instead of sending I
get sent to the log-in screen with a message that I need to re-enter
my username and password. This happens at least a dozen times a day
and it's annoying (especially when it causes me to lose messages).

Is there anything I can do to solve these issues?

Thanks,

Jon

Why not just have the gmail pushed to the device the way the BB email was meant to be and not even use the GMail app.

Sync and Search.

We're not running BES (start-up company) so I'd have to delete message in two places which I'm not a big fan of.

I also love having the ability to have all messages stored centrally and to be able to search from there. POPing into GMail would change that.

Having said that, if there's a way to accomplish the two things above without BES I'd be all ears!

GMail syncs deletes both directions. It's a bit slow if you delete from the gmail server on your pc but it does work. It's near instant if you delete from the handheld.

You can search your sent and received mails from the BB. However, if you send an email from the gmail site on your computer that sent mail will not be on your handheld.

Thanks John!

Do you have a link to a tutorial that tells how to set this up? I looked here but the only thing I found was stuff about one-way synching which isn't nearly as helpful.

As for search, I can always keep the GMail Mobile app on the my Blackberry and then search using that. But if I send a message from my BB will I be able to find that later using GMail search?

It's quite simple....

How to add / delete email addresses - BlackBerryFAQ

I've not used the GMail app. All my gmail pushes to my device using BIS. The link above will walk you through it.

I've set this up and it appears to be working fine for my regular gmail address (me@gmail.com) but not for my Apps for Domains address (me@myotherdomain.com) which is running on GMail. I like Apps for Domains and need to have e-mails sent to [email address]. I also need to appear to send from [email address]. However, might there be a different way to accomplish this that would still allow me to take advantage of the synchronization?
