Default Quick Battery Drain on 8700 after 4.2 OS Install

Please Login to Remove!

I've been searching for a couple weeks on this and haven't come up with anything. I finally figured out the problem and thought I'd share.

One of my users had an 8700g that I upgraded to 4.2.1.96. Sometime after the upgrade, the device started running the battery down very quickly. He has an extended battery installed and the battery was running down to 0 in less than a day. We went through all the normal things, battery pull, apps running, maps running & using data, backlight, wireless radio in weak areas, etc. I even ordered a new battery just in case that was the problem I would have something.

I'd been searching on this for a week or so to no avail. Last night I after going to bed, and just before going to sleep, it just came to me. He was using the Dimension Today theme.

I called him the next day and had him switch his theme to another and reboot the device.

Problem solved.

So, watch out for the Dimension Today theme. I've used it a lot on the Pearl and never had an issue with it but it didn't like the 8700 and 4.2.1.96 for whatever reason.

Hope this helps someone....
