Question Desktop sync

Please Login to Remove!

I received a Blackberry 8700 from my employer. The carrier is AT&T. The device syncs (wirelessly) fine with MS Outlook on my work computer. What I would like to do is to set it up so that it will sync on my home PC via USB cable connection. Until now I have been using an iPaq to sync my office PC and my home PC. I rather do everything on one device and eliminate the iPaq.

I have downloaded and installed the latest version of the desktop software on my home PC. When I connect my Blackberry to my home PC via USB cable I get a message that it cannot sync because wireless syncing is enabled. This is where I'm getting in over my head.

I'm not interested in syncing my work emails on my home PC. I just want to sync my contacts, calendar entries and notes at home. With the iPaq it was a fairly simple process of plugging the iPaq in at work and then again at home. I realize the Blackberry syncs wirelessly at work so plugging it in is not an option. However I can plug it in at home.

Is there a fairly simple way to accomplish what I am trying to do? I am fairly computer literate but the Blackberry is new to me and I'm still struggling.

Any advice appreciated.

Thanks.

You have to disable the wireless reconcile in each app you want to sync via cable. So, go to Calendar >Options >Wireless Reconcile-Off. Then, when finished, turn wireless reconcile back on. Do that for everything you want to sync with Outlook.
