Google Maps V 1.6 for some strange reason does not work on the 8703. You can donload the aplication now "could not even do that befor" but we still get an error message when trying to launch. Google is aware of the problem and has said many times that it was fixed but a big NO so far. Download V 1.5 through the link below.

http://www.google.com/gmm/apps/v1.5....1&v er=v1.5.4

I will leave this here for members with 8703 CDMA

Hello. I was able to download gm v1.6 using <go to> http://www.google.com/gmm/apps/v1.6....00_v4_1_L1.jad
input manually. Got this tip from the Google mobile help forums. (Right click link, select 'Properties' to view the whole string)
I've found there is at least one glitch in this version (previous ones I have tried have been flawless, not to mention the download recognition problem) where you have to clear the map before looking for anything else, otherwise it goes into some strange loops or null exception errors. Otherwise it runs faster and has a few more options than before. Still no internal GPS integration.
Don't forget to erase any previous versions you may have and soft reset before installing. If it doesn't work for you, you can always erase and reinstall v1.5 using the link from redsoxnation.
By the way, I'm using an 8703e on Sprint.
good luck

Folks good news. I was able to get GMM 1.6.1 installed and working on my VZW 8703e on BES. Here's what I did;

1. Removed all previous GOOGLE apps and hard booted the phone

2. Turned on location based services under the settings menu.

3. Downloaded and installed the latest version of GMM and hard booted the phone.

4. Sat back and
