I have searched and cannot find anything on this subject.

I can add contacts in my BB messenger, they show unavailable but they have accepted and are not "pending" - however I cannot send to them.

This only occurs with contacts that are outside my domain, internal users are not affected.

I created a new policy (blank) and pushed it to my phone. I have installed the latest version of BB Messenger.

We are using BES 4.1 (sp 4).

Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem. BB messenger worked great with anyone when I was on BIS. A few weeks ago I migrated over to my work's BES. Everything works great except I people outside my domain cannot recieve my BB messages. I can get the ones they send to me, but they cannot see mine. My IT department has verified several times that the IT policy is blank and is not prohibiting this.
Would love to hear how to fix this. My wife is angry that we cannot use it anymore.
*BTW, I worked with RIM for several hours trying to solve it, they say it is the IT policy. My IT dept says it's not, so I am stuck.

Interesting! I don't have a solution. Surprised one of the BES admins haven't chimmed in

That was our problem, we were using a generated key! Many thanks, removing the peer to peer key and a service restart resolved the issue.

It makes sense - we had a key, we could receive BB messenger pings and messages, however they could not receive ours because we had a custom peer 2 peer key (it was encrypted and therefore dropped on their side - right?)

how do you know, or how can I tell if mine is locked?

I can't send messages to a friend of mine..
I am on sprint BIS and he is on Cingular BIS.

I don't have enterprise, just the BB with unlimited data.

I can see his BB IM's, but he cant see mine.

Any help would be appreciated

Also, just wanted to add, I can send and receive BB IM's with others just fine.
They are on Verizon, and another is on T-Mobile.
I just cant talk with the one guy on Cingular

I upgraded recently from 8700c to 8310 and now it works. IT did nothing, so i guess it was my device.
