i'll keep fingers crossed that yahoo! go makes an 8820-compatible version available soon, but for now i installed google maps. the icon for google maps appears not on the 8820's desktop, but rather under its Applications folder. i tried rightclick and move but was unsuccessful moving the google maps icon to the 8820's desktop, where i would prefer that it be because i use maps fairly frequently. i asked one of our company's techs, and he said he had tried but was also unable to find a way to move the google maps icon to the 8820's desktop where i want it. does anyone know a way i can accomplish this? thx
If you change it (temporarily) to one of the default themes (like BB Dimension Icon if it is there) I believe all the icons will be shown on the home screen. You can always change it back to the AT&T theme if you like. But I do think it is theme based, and don't think you can bring icons up a level.
bummer. that's consistent with the inability of our (very smart) tech's inability to change either. the other themes are distracting to me so while i may test one temporarily, i'll probably live with this choice imposed on me to keep the plane jane default at&t theme i otherwise like. thx for time and thoughts!
not sure what version i downloaded. under Help/About, i simply see Google Maps (c)2007 Google Inc. when i first clicked Help, i did see a GPS line. but now every time i click help, the programs goes into about and i can't get the earlier displayed list of choices to come up. when i first downloaded the other day, something flashed about Find Location and the handheld did (presumably via some GPS capability) render a map accurately displaying the location of my home, where i was sitting at the time with my 8820

This is probably the best option. You can set this by going to Options > Screen/Keyboard and setting the side convenience key.
